About Patrizia

Patrizia Alessi is the owner and founder of JackMonkey Catering, a nationally recognized bakery/catering that specializes in hand-made, home cooked, inspired traditional recipes of baked goods, as well as culinary delights. Her company has a commissary kitchen and bakery in Wall Street, the financial district heart of New York City.

She is passionate about delicious homemade food

that is nutritious and wholesome.

Patrizia grew up in Bassano Del Grappa, Italy, a small medieval town surrounded by beautiful mountains. As the youngest of five siblings, she learned very early on,  to experience with cooking and baking, so that she could somehow alleviate the burden to her working parents and brothers.

In 1979, Patrizia moved from Italy to New York City to help develop and expand her family's gold jewelry business and turn it into a very successful and prosperous company.

Her motivation for working harder, became even more evident with the birth of her children, as she decided to make New York City her permanent home.

In the mid 90’s, having to move away from her family business and looking for inspiration, Patrizia realized that her passion has always been cooking and baking, and decided to make a bold and drastic career change.  After taking classes at the French Culinary School in New York City, Patrizia was offered a space in the Chelsea Market, where she would transform her dreams into reality by starting her own business.

She launched Ruthy’s Bakery in 1995 with 4 employees.

The shop was an immediate hit.

While building its loyal customer base over the years, the bakery became a

New York institution.

In 2008, Patrizia's catering experience began with Moe., an American jam band from Buffalo, NY, and, liking the vibe and success that came from it, she decided to look into the possibilities.....

Her career really changed when she was asked to cater for the

Fab Faux at Radio City Music Hall.

That was her big break:

what could be better than to provide the ultimate service of cooking and baking to the stars from her own commissary kitchen.

She took a leap of faith, trusted her instincts and became, shortly after, one of the most sought caterers in all the New York/ New Jersey most respectable and prestigious buildings…… Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall. Carnegie Hall, Beacon TheatreManhattan Center, Barclay’s Center, Prudential Center, just to name a few.

She has baked some of the most memorable 3D cakes for her clients such as Billy Joel, Ringo Starr, Levon Helms, Ed Sheeran, and the list goes on...

Today, JackMonkey Catering, is the preferred caterer among the biggest names in the industry, and continues to be recognized for its culinary performance, quality and service.

Patrizia has been featured in the New York Times, NBC News, The Today’s Show and Food Network.

JackMonkey Catering takes pride in being a 100% woman owned business.
